Jossy Lownes has been a professional artist for the past 30 years. Painting and teaching occupy most of her time in Arizona and in Rhode Island. Summer on an island gives her inspiration for landscapes and non-representational work. Her figurative pieces reflect her feelings for the single life as well as relationships. Groups of people show the human desire for companionship and for enjoying life together.
With a bachelor’s degree from Arizona State University and a Masters from the University of Illinois, she also obtained status in the real estate world with a broker’s license and still maintains an active sales license.
Jossy is an active member in the Sonoran Arts League in Scottsdale where she was on the Board of Directors for three years. She has shown her work in the well-attended Hidden in the Hills Studio Tour and Sale for the past ten years. This will be her 15th year as a juried participant in Celebration of Fine Art – a ten-week show in North Scottsdale. She holds Signature memberships in the Utah Watercolor Society, the Western Federation of Watercolor Societies, and is a juried member of the Sonoran Arts League. Her over twenty awards include two Best of Show. Collectors include Salt Lake International Airport, the Huntsman Cancer Center, Salt Lake City, Utah, Honor Health Scottsdale Thompson Peak Hospital, Scottsdale, Arizona and individuals world wide.
Currently, Jossy is adding hand-built ceramics to her production, but doing acrylic and oil painting take priority. She works in her home studio – a charming adobe home in Scottsdale, Arizona.
